Why choose heated windscreens for your vehicle fleet?

  • Expert-blog

Heated windscreens are becoming a more common solution for modern vehicle fleets, and you can get a custom heated windscreen, sized and curved for your needs, from Finn Lamex.

Heated windscreens help your drivers maintain their efficiency no matter the elements – whether mist, fog, snow or ice.

HOW HEATED WINDSCREENS WORK

Our heated windscreens are powered by thin tungsten filament wires suspended in the PVB coating between the two panes of laminated glass. These wires are supplied with power by the vehicle battery, and typically invisible to the naked eye – although they can be spotted by close examination.

HEATED WINDSCREENS SAVE MONEY, TIME, AND ENERGY WHILE MAKING DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS SAFER AND MORE COMFORTABLE.

HEATED WINDSCREEN BENEFITS

Speed. Heated windscreens defrost and defog glass faster – on both the inner and outer glass surface – to get your drivers moving. This translates to reduced overhead for your business, tighter adherence to timetables, and a better customer experience.

Safety. Heated windscreens are also safer because they increase visibility. A heated windscreen distributes heat evenly from the windscreen’s core, warming in a wide horizontal band across the viewing area of the glass. This avoids the slowly-growing window of visibility caused by a defroster – and the faster and more evenly ice and fog is removed from the windscreen surface, the sooner the driver has full vision of the road.

Efficiency. Heated windscreens are also more energy efficient. Standard laminated windscreens rely on external heat from the defroster, but this results in a loss of efficiency as some of the heat escapes into the air. A heated windscreen provides direct warmth to the windscreen surface. That is, a heated windscreen can use all of its energy to defrost the windscreen, while the heater can use all of its energy to warm the vehicle cabin. As a result, the cabin is also heated more efficiently.

In short, heated windscreens save money, time, and energy while making drivers and passengers safer and more comfortable.
